Analysis of intonation design of speech etiquette units in a phonetics course for Chinese students

since intonation is one of the main phonetic means of forming a speech utterance and is a set of prosodic components involved in the division and organization of the speech flow in accordance with the meaning of the transmitted message, the article analyzes the intonation design of speech etiquette units in a practical phonetics course for Chinese students. The method of comparative analysis involves identifying similarities and differences in the intonation level of the Russian and Chinese languages. It is concluded that when identifying differences with articulatory and acoustic features of sounds when expressing different emotional states in the design of speech etiquette units, intonation is used not only as a linguistic means, but also serves to convey the speaker's attitude to what he says. Intonation conveys both the emotional state of the speaker (his elated or depressed mood) and the features of his personal, individual design.
