Pakhomov V.M.

Abstract

The study is devoted to the 90th anniversary of V.V. Lopatin’s birth (1935–2021) – Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, specialist in word formation, morphemics, morphology, and spelling, and chairman of the Spelling commission of RAS in 2000–2014. The study characterises crucial stages of V.V. Lopatins’ life and scientific paths; his contribution to domestic science is conceptualized, and some myths and stereotypes about Lopatin’s spelling work in the 1990s and 2000s are debunked, including the myths of the new edition of the rules of Russian spelling and punctuation (2000). Special attention is paid on two main stages of V.V. Lopatin’s scientific biography – the participation in the creation of academic descriptive grammars of the Russian language and work at the Spelling commission of RAS, which prepared academic “Russian spelling vocabulary” and a complete academic guide, “The rules of Russian spelling and punctuation.” V.V. Lopatin’s activity as a linguistics populariser is singled out separately. V.V. Lopatin’s scientific legacy is conceptualised in the context of the spelling work that has been performed in the last several years at the V.V. Vinogradov Russian Language Institute of RAS.

Epithetization as a way of categorizing football discourse

Chernikova N.V.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The relevance of the study is due to the need to study the linguistic methods of categorization of socially significant fragments of the external world and different types of discourse. The purpose of the study is to identify epithets characterizing the game of the Russian national team and its rivals at the 2018 FIFA World Cup; to determine the composition of their thematic groups and subgroups, as well as linguistic means that are carriers of the characteristic nomination, in the process of lexical, grammatical and functional categorization of linguistic units.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The subject of the study is a feature nomination (epithetation) as a way of categorizing sports (football) discourse based on the material of the journalistic book by the Russian sports journalist I.Ya. Rabiner “Team-2018: Champions of Our Hearts”. During the analysis of the linguistic material, the method of continuous sampling, contextual analysis, the method of semantic-cognitive analysis, the modeling method, and the statistical method are used.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. In the process of lexical and functional categorization of characteristic words (epithets), two thematic groups were identified: 1) epithets characterizing the game of the Russian national team; 2) epithets characterizing the game of the opponent. Each group is represented by several subgroups. Cases of interaction of epithetization and metaphorization were revealed, demonstrating the transition from one conceptual area to another (crazy blow, aggressive football, iron penalty). In the process of grammatical categorization of epithets, means of expressing the characteristic nomination (adjectival and adverbial vocabulary) and 8 structural models of epithet complexes were determined.CONCLUSION. According to statistics, the number of epithets characterizing the play of the Russian national team is 5 times greater than the number of epithets characterizing the play of the opponent; the number of subgroups of the first thematic group is almost 2 times greater than the number of subgroups of the second thematic group. Such quantitative indicators reveal the ethnocultural and personal features of the linguistic understanding of a fragment of the world and emphasize attention, special interest in national (Russian) realities. Many epithets characterizing the play of the Russian national team have a positive connotation (wonderful attack, united, integral, brotherly play, excellent defender), in contrast to epithets with a negative connotation characterizing the play of the opponent (terrible, panicky play, empty, slow and clumsy players).

Nominations of women by profession in modern Russian (based on survey materials)

Zhao J., Chernyshova T.V.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The purpose of the study is to determine, based on a questionnaire, the role and adaptive capabilities of women’s nominations by profession and in the modern Russian language.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The research material consists of 50 questionnaires received during a survey of students at Altai State University, as well as literary texts presented in the National Corpus of the Russian Language. The following methods were used: questionnaires; continuous sampling method; word-formation, comparative, quantitative analysis.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. It was revealed that the acceptability of gender neologisms is supported by both the social significance of nominations by profession in the feminine form (symmetry, clear indication of the person's gender) and the facts of natural language development. The unacceptability of using such nominations is based on the healthy conservatism of a significant part of the respondents and the desire to preserve established norms and traditions. A variety of wordformation suffixes used to create feminine forms from masculine professional names was revealed.CONCLUSION. The results of the survey allow us to state that gender nominations of women by profession are a fact of the modern Russian language, requiring close attention and study both in the functional, word-formation, and sociolinguistic aspects.

Text units with purpose semantics in a discursive perspective

Voronina L.V.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The correlation of the terms “text units” and “discourse units” is currently opaque due to numerous approaches to defining text units and ambiguous decisions regarding discursive ones. The aim is to identify the features of the correlation of structural units of text and discourse and to establish the specifics of the rhetorical relations of Purpose at the element node level of discourse.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The research is conducted on the basis of contemporary mass media material through an unselected sampling from interviews with Russian political leaders using the methodology of the theory of rhetorical structures, general philological argumentation, as well as conversation and discourse analysis.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. A structural-semantic dependence is established when identifying the correlation of text units with the purpose semantics and discursive units organized according to the principle of rhetorical relations of the purpose; the specificity of the rhetorical connections of Purpose as relations of the subject type, an asymmetric structure, characterized by a complete paradigm of the signs of polarity and direction is revealed.CONCLUSION. The study has prospects for further study of global structures of natural discourse, as well as practical significance in the context of computational linguistics in the development of algorithms for creating texts using artificial intelligence.

Comparison of the verbalization of “heroes” in the author’s tale and the folk tale (based on the tales of P.P. Bazhov “The Malachite Box” and “The Stone Bowl”)

Kormakova S.T.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. Philological study of texts is a new step in studying the entire repertoire of the fairy tale fund in a wide comparison with the texts of other works. Philologists, writers, screenwriters use the concept of V.Ya. Propp and the methodology of A.J. Greimas in modern text theory. Close attention is paid to the concept of actant, actant model and basic functions in fairy tales, which are important for constructing the plot of any text, building a scheme of functional characters. The purpose of the study is to compare the characters of the author’s fairy tale by P.P. Bazhov “The Malachite Box” with the Ural folk tale “The Stone Bowl”.MATERIALS AND METHODS. By means of functional analysis, based on the concept of the famous Russian philologist, folklorist V.Ya. Propp (1895–1970) and actantial analysis, developed by the French linguist, philologist  A.J. Greimas (1917–1992), we can see the structure of the fairy tale text, identify its actantial model and describe its specificity, which reflects the culture of the people.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The results obtained during the study have added to the body of achievements in folklore studies and linguacultural studies. The philological method of identifying actant models used in the work allows scientists to better see the cultural specificity of the Ural people. The methods of work can be used to study not only folklore texts, but also for authorial works.CONCLUSION. The research of V.Ya. Propp and A.J. Greimas allows us in our time, using the seven-character scheme of V.Ya. Propp and the actant model of A.J. Greimas, to analyze any text, designating the meanings of actants and their functions. The conclusions of this study can be used in the process of teaching the Russian language in classes on folklore and philological analysis of the text.

ONOMASTICS

Proper name in a normative scientific text

Maksimchuk N.A.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The ability of a proper name to reflect both subject information and multifaceted background information puts it on a par with the main carrier of scientific knowledge – a term. In the study of linguistic expression of knowledge, the question of the role and place of onomastic vocabulary in the content of school education becomes relevant. The purpose of the study is to analyze the qualitative composition, quantitative parameters and nature of the relationship of proper names in the structure of existing educational texts, which will allow us to formulate requirements for the organization of the onomastic content of newly created texts.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The research material was an array of proper names extracted by the method of continuous sampling from the texts of textbooks and programs on all subjects of general secondary education in the late 1980s – early 2000s. When processing the obtained material, presented in the Database format, analytical, comparative, field methods, elements of the statistical method were used. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The total number and composition of onomastic units in educational texts were determined, the frequency and prevalence rates of these units were established, the core and peripheral components of this onomastic space were distinguished, the ratio of recurring and single onyms was revealed, their role in expressing subject knowledge was characterized, and the conditions for the optimal organization of educational onomastic space were formulated.CONCLUSION. The obtained data provide an idea of the volume and nature of the onomastic fragment of the generally binding scientific knowledge reflected in the normative scientific texts of the analyzed era. These results create the basis for the implementation of a systematic approach to the organization of onomastic vocabulary within the framework of normative scientific texts. Comparison of the obtained data with data from other time periods will allow us to determine the onomastic invariant and variable elements in different time concepts of the composition of basic onomastic knowledge.

Prototypical function of poetonym: idiostyle of G.R. Derzhavin

Shcherbak A.S., Guo J.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The relevance of the study of the works of the great Russian poet G.R. Derzhavin, whose state activity is associated with the “Tambov period” in his poetic work, consists in the development of literary Tambov onomastics. The onomastic space of the poet's works reflects the cultural context of the Russian language, culturally marked proper names that perform the communicative function of the language, without which adequate communication between representatives of contacting linguacultures is impossible. The purpose of the study is to reveal the prototypical uniqueness of a proper name using the example of the poetonym Plenira in the works of G.R. Derzhavin.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The research material was the poems of  G.R. Derzhavin, which present the anthroponym Plenira, reflecting a bright poetic image and symbol of love and loss of a beloved woman in Russian literature. The study used a descriptive method, which consists in the consistent collection of anthroponymic material used in the works of G.R. Derzhavin; contextual and stylistic analysis, semiotic approach.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. Using the example of the anthroponym Plenira, an idea is given of the prototypical function of the anthroponym, which is fundamental when considering the name of a character in a literary text.CONCLUSION. It has been established that the prototypical function of literary anthroponyms, closely connected with the thinking and mentality of a native speaker of Russian, contributes to the deepening of the theory of the functional potential of onomastic categories, rather than other functions of onyms.

Onomastic component of the normative-scientific macrotext “Russian language” in a dynamic aspect

Golubnichaya A.V.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The problem of the formation of the Russian linguistic personality, in particular its onomastic component, is the subject of numerous scientific studies, covering its various aspects, including within a certain period of time. However, the previously mentioned problem has not been considered in dynamics. The purpose of the study is to characterize the onomastic space of the macrotext “Russian Language” in a dynamic aspect in the period from the 19th to the beginning of the 21st century.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The research material was onyms identified in normative scientific texts of the 19th – early 21st centuries and supplemented with appellatives, which are written with a capital letter. The following methods were used: statistical, classification, comparative, et al.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The concept of the normativescientific macrotext “Russian language” is formulated, its structure and onomastic content are determined. In the normative-scientific texts of each period, the most frequent onyms are identified, forming the common core (invariant) of the onomastic space.CONCLUSION. The study confirmed the thesis that the central place in the onomastic space belongs to anthroponyms, which in large part are among the precedent names that are of great importance in the formation of the Russian linguistic personality. This conclusion convincingly emphasizes the special role of the academic subject “Russian language” in this process. The prospects of the work are associated with the expansion of the study of systemic relations within the onomastic space, identifying the content and structure of the associative-cultural background of its key units, establishing the specifics of the functioning of proper names in the texts of textbooks on the Russian language in comparison with normative-scientific texts on other subjects, et al.

Hephyronyms in the structure of the Samarkand text

Lipatova Y.V.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. Recently, the peripheral categories of onomastics have become the object of onomastic research, which include the name of the proper bridge – gephyronyms. This term is not noted in the most famous Dictionary of Russian Onomastic Terminology by N.V. Podolskaya. Being a meaningful independent unit of knowledge in the onomastic consciousness of native speakers, gephironim exist in a system-centric form and in an anthropocentric dimension, implementing the urban text. Understanding the essence of the toponym as a text goes back to the ideas  of M.V. Gorbanevsky, who believed that the versatility of the components of a toponym is related to the toponym-text. The purpose of the study is to consider the spatial locus of the city of Samarkand based on the material of gephironim texts, which can unfold and represent known extralinguistic and cultural knowledge, representing the city-text.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The following methods are used in the study: observation, semiotic and semantic analysis, interpretation method. Empirical context of the study of – gephyronyms of Samarkand, recorded on the city map and in reference books, which are the object of scientific interest of the author.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. A person fills the space of the city with specific toponymic units involved in the formation of the urban text, which allows “to read” the city. The coherence and integrity of the urban text are formed by toponyms-texts, the meanings of which include the following components: address, chronological, historical and cultural, local history, national-cultural, text, and this series remains open.CONCLUSION. Certain properties of the Samarkand text are reflected in toponym texts. Since any toponym performs an iconic function and urban semiotics is intertextual, each individual toponym-text enters into an intertextual relationship with another toponym-text, forming an urban text with onomastic information.

Cybernetics in philology. Statement of the problem

Ovtcharenko A.Y., Shaprinskay E.A.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The relationship between cybernetics and philology is considered. The rapid development of modern technologies, and artificial intelligence in particular, poses the question of introducing programs focused on humanitarian and technological multidisciplinary approaches to higher education institutions to modern specialists, which, of course, is associated with many difficulties, including psychological ones. The purpose of the study is to consider and analyze the possible application of cybernetics and quantitative methods in philology.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The main part examines typical modern myths about neural networks and interactions with them by specialists in the field of humanities. One of the main methods of rationalizing unfounded fears of artificial intelligence is an explanation of the mechanism of its algorithms. Detailed comments are given on the prospects that are opened by the joint activities of philologists and programmers. In addition, the issue of introducing cybernetic principles into philological studies of poetry is considered. Thanks to this view of the problem, it will be possible to talk about the reconstruction of poems based on existing discrepancies using artificial intelligence.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The methodological and practical value of the integration of cybernetics and philology is touched upon, which makes it possible to speak about bringing humanitarian research to a new, “digital” level.CONCLUSION. It is emphasized that not only philologists need to acquire digital competencies, but it is also important for programmers to have knowledge in the field of language and culture, since further development of AI technologies is impossible without the integration of these two areas.

Vasily Kamensky visual and sound (for the 140th anniversary of the poet-aviator-budetlyanin)

Biryukov S.E.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The relevance of the study is due to the need for a comprehensive approach to the analysis of the work of one of the leading figures of Russian futurism, Vasily Vasilyevich Kamensky. Actor, writer, editor, aviator, circus artist, artist, organizer of literary and stage space. All these talents converge in the focus of the poet. And it is necessary to follow the poet in his searches in order to rediscover him. The purpose of the study is to identify the features of the poetics of V. Kamensky, a key figure in the history of the Russian avant-garde.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The research material is the poet’s works, primarily of an innovative nature, in which he, relying on the traditions of his predecessors, makes a breakthrough to new possibilities of the sound of the word in combination with visual solutions. The analysis of the texts is based on linguistic poetics, as well as art criticism approaches and the transformative method of research of avant-garde texts developed by the author of this article using biographical materials and memoirs.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. It is shown that the basic foundation for V. Kamensky is deep rootedness in Russian culture (folklore, poetic traditions of different levels). It is on the basis of this foundation that V. Kamensky, V. Khlebnikov, V. Mayakovsky search for new forms. Avantgarde transforms, but does not destroy. V. Kamensky’s passion for the latest technical achievements (aviation, telephone, radio, printing techniques, building materials) also brings its own characteristics to his creative workshop. V. Kamensky is a pioneer of Russian visual and sound poetry.CONCLUSION. The study, based on a comprehensive examination of the poet's creative laboratory and his associates, is addressed to a philological and cultural audience. It demonstrates the possibilities of convergence of methods in the analysis of innovative poetic structures. The results of the study can be used both in theoretical developments and in pedagogical practice.

Bird mythologem in E.G. Vodolazkin’s novel “The Aviator”

Gudin D.S., Sorokina N.V.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. Bird is a symbolic image in the works of E.G. Vodolazkin. The aim of the study is to determine the function of ornithological images in the novel by E.G. Vodolazkin “The Aviator” and their connection with the literary and mythological tradition.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The object of the study is ornithological symbolism in the novel by E.G. Vodolazkin “The Aviator”. The study is based on a combined approach, combining historical-cultural, mythopoetic, biographical, structural, comparative-historical and receptive methods.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The bestiary and mythological semantics of the images of a raven, crow, eagle owl, swan, and dove have been established. The ornithological environment of the protagonist has been analyzed, and the functions and techniques of creating ornithomorphic characters in “The Aviator” have been studied. Typological and genetic similarities with “protograph” texts – medieval apocrypha, Physiologus, Explanatory Paleia, the works of Ovid, A.S. Pushkin,  A.K. Tolstoy, A.A. Blok, etc. – have been identified and studied in detail. The connection between the novel “The Aviator” by E.G. Vodolazkin and the novels “Demons” and “Crime and Punishment” by F.M. Dostoevsky has been determined. The hypothesis about the palimpsest nature of the novel “The Aviator” has been substantiated.CONCLUSION. The research materials can be used both for the analysis of E.G. Vodolazkin’s poetics and for the analysis of mythological imagery in contemporary Russian and foreign literature.

King Philip II of Spain as the prototype of the Grand Inquisitor in F.M. Dostoevsky’s novel “The Brothers Karamazov”

Yudakhin A.A.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The Spanish plot forms an important symbolic, semantic and artistic layer of the Grand Inquisitor Legend by F.M. Dostoevsky. The purpose of the study is to identify and analyze the typological similarity of the Spanish King Philip II (1527–1598) and the Grand Inquisitor Dostoevsky in the context of the author’s idea of the “Legend”.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The object of the study is the insertion parable of Ivan Karamazov in F.M. Dostoevsky’s novel “The Brothers Karamazov”, as well as handwritten editions and rough sketches for the “Legend”. The methodological basis of the research includes the comparative historical method, cultural-historical and system-typological analysis.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The study revealed the presence of a complex typological correlation between the image of King Philip II, attested by historical literature, and the artistic image of the Grand Inquisitor of the Legend. The characteristics of both characters, such as despotism, pride, amoralism, fanaticism, asceticism and recluse, go back to two basic categories that build the life and behavior model of the characters – godliness and the will to power. In the context of Dostoevsky’s anti-Catholic polemic, such similarity of portraits (spiritual constitution and psychological type) of the Inquisitor king and the Grand Inquisitor acquires special significance.CONCLUSION. The revealed typological correlation between historical and artistic images suggests that the Inquisitor King Philip II, as an iconic character in Spanish history, served as one of the prototypes of the main character of Dostoevsky’s “Legend”.

An attempt to identify intertextual connections with the Holy Scripture in the spiritual lyrics of V.D. Fedorov

Kireev N.N.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The article examines the intertextual connections of the spiritual poetry of Vasily Dmitrievich Fedorov, with an emphasis on his poem “Parable” with fragments of the Holy Scriptures of the New and Old Testaments. The purpose of the study is to reveal the spiritual and philosophical aspects of the poet’s work, as well as to draw parallels between his work and the work of Albert Camus “The Myth of Sisyphus. Essay on the Absurd”. The relevance of the study is due to the need for modern philological science to interpret the spiritual lyrics of V.D. Fedorov in the context of patristic exegesis using modern methods of text analysis.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The text of V.D. Fyodorov’s poem “Parable” is a system of multi-level units, the analysis of which facilitates a deeper penetration into the author's artistic concept. Both general scientific and special linguistic methods are used: exegetical, comparative and intertextual.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. It was revealed that in the poem “Parable” Fedorov emphasizes the meaning of labor and personal responsibility of a person, focusing on cooperation with God. Unlike the myth of Sisyphus, Fedorov’s hero is aware of his choice and strives to fulfill the Divine plan, which fills his actions with meaning and purpose.CONCLUSION. The work demonstrates that Fedorov’s poetry has deep spiritual significance that is relevant to the modern reader. Prospects for the study may include further analysis of the author’s other works in the context of religious and philosophical ideas.

“Death in Moscow” by Yuz Aleshkovsky: mortal images, narrative strategy, genre-thematic features

Maksinyaev R.I.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The research is devoted to the study of genre-thematic and narrative peculiarities of Yuz Aleshkovsky’s story “Death in Moscow”. The purpose of the work is to reveal the specifics of thanatological discourse and discourse of political and ethnic anecdote, which form a peculiar poetics and aesthetics of fantastic and mystical narrative.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The material of the study is the little-studied Yuz Aleshkovsky’s novella “Death in Moscow” (1985). The key method is the method of holistic analysis of the artwork, and we also used the motive and narrative approaches.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. It is established that the central plot episodes of the story perform a carnival function, while the artistic methods determine the author’s strategy. At the narrative level, it is embodied in the interchangeability and identity of thirdperson and first-person narration as a minuscule technique and the alleged “removal” of the author’s mask in the use of stream-of-consciousness techniques. At the plot level, these are inserted anecdotes and short stories that satirically depict images of Soviet power, motifs of death, antipochevanism, and cosmopolitanism.CONCLUSION. In Yuz Aleshkovsky’s story, the technique of reducing the images of Soviet power to the realm of material and corporeal bottom becomes not only a leading technique, but also acquires a ritual sacredness: on the one hand, the writer restores the balance of mythological and everyday life, public and private, near and far. On the other hand, in opposition to the official mythology, he creates his own mythology – the mythology of the folk anecdote, a novel-anecdote, devoted to the laughing comprehension of the death of the dying and dying Soviet state.

V. Pelevin and D. Cronenberg: points of intersection of domestic and Western postmodernism

Sherchalova E.V., Tulusheva E.S.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. Both Victor Pelevin and David Cronenberg are accomplished masters of their genre. No matter how critically reviewers respond to their work, the Canadian director enjoys the title of the king of biological horror, and the domestic postmodernist has repeatedly been called one of the most popular writers of modern Russian literature, and both artists have long found devoted admirers. In 2015, D. Cronenberg debuted with the novel “Consumed”, which allows us to compare the artistic worlds of famous creators in the literary plane. Despite the fact that, at first glance, V. Pelevin and D. Cronenberg have nothing in common, a detailed study reveals artistic principles typical of both writers. The purpose of the study is to search for similarities and common ideological and aesthetic solutions characteristic of domestic and Western postmodernism.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The empirical base is the great prose of V. Pelevin (works published from 1996 to 2023) and the novel by D. Cronenberg “Consumed”. Structural, motive and comparative methods of analysis were used.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The emphasis is on the fabulation and poetics of otherness, as well as on the understanding of capitalism as a cultural and economic basis of the modern world and criticism of consumer society as signs of postmodernism. Special attention is paid to the study of the image of the protagonist, whose distinctive features include mosaicism, fragmentation and liminality, corresponding to the topographic organization of the text.CONCLUSION. The analysis reflected similar artistic solutions, including motives and topographic organization in the works of Pelevin and Cronenberg the writer, allowing us to talk about points of convergence and commonality of Russian and Western contemporary literary postmodernism.

The artistic value of the bestseller: the genre art of G. Yakhina’s novel “My Children”

Zang X., Guan Y.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The study is devoted to identifying the artistic technique “genre hybridity” in the novel “My children” by modern Russian writer Guzel Shamileevna Yakhina. The purpose of the study is to identify the hybridization of the genres of the novel “My Children”, analyse the approach to its implementation, comprehend its meaning and the effect on the formation of the author’s creative style.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The research material is the novel “My Children” G. Yakhina, winner of the national literary award “Big Book” in 2019. When analysing the text of the novel, a phenomenological approach, a method for reconstructing the artist’s work and his art, and textual analysis are used.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. It is revealed that the text of the novel describes historical events with the help of artistic techniques characteristic of folklore genres of fairy tales and legends, and shows the essence of real history against the backdrop of fantastic flavor. “Genre hybridity” manifests itself due to the fact that the fairy-tale plots present in the text of the work play a special role, they begin to come true “in the opposite direction”. It has been established that the work reflects the author’s handwriting in the depiction of an object in the novel (Germans of the Volga region) against the background of the “ebullient era” with mythological elements, as a result of which the depth of the work’s meaning increases.CONCLUSION. It has been established that the use of genre hybridity in the novel by G. Yakhina “My Children” helps overcome the contradiction between reality and romance, historicity and fiction, providing readers with a variety of aesthetic experiences.

MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS AND JOURNALISM

The texture of a media text as its key parameter

Shmeleva T.V.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The article presents an understanding of one of the parameters of a media text – its texture – in terms of its relationship with other parameters. At the same time, such a potential characteristic of a media text as polytexture is interpreted and the goal is set – to show how it determines the circulation of a text in the modern media sphere. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The study is methodologically based on a semiotic interpretation of a media text and attention to the regional media field, within which texts of different discourses form texture paradigms and function along texture routes, which determines the use of discourse analysis in their study, as well as methods of semantic and stylistic analysis.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. The examination of two texture paradigms of media texts – news from the discourses of health and culture – allows us to show that, taking into account the chronology of the emergence of media texts, their genres (announcement, news, post in a telegram channel, etc.), intertextuality, the relationship between the verbal and visual, etc., it is possible to establish that the initial element of the paradigms is teletext, which is explained by the commitment of the regional audience to television as a communication channel.CONCLUSION. The texture of a media text is its key parameter, which largely determines its circulation in the regional media field, the presence of its content in the attention zone of different segments of the regional audience, which essentially.

Means of attracting and holding attention in personalized video blogs of the demonstration type

Shesterina A.M.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION. The active development of the audiovisual sector of new media in a highly competitive environment suggests that content authors are actively working on developing means of attracting and retaining the audience’s attention to a specific work. This process is especially vividly realized in personalized video blogs of the demonstration type, where the author, as a rule, remains one-on-one with the audience. Therefore, it seems appropriate to analyze the means that video bloggers use in their works in order to ensure their popularity.MATERIALS AND METHODS. The empirical basis of the study was formed by publications on the channels “The Kate Clapp” and “Sasha Spilberg” on the YouTube platform from September 1, 2023 to September 1, 2024. The study was carried out based on textual, comparative-typological methods and the method of content analysis.RESULTS AND DISCUSSION. In the course of the study, we came to the conclusion that bloggers work extremely actively with both visual and auditory submodalities. Frequently used visual submodalities include location, size, playing with color, and the use of graphic elements. Auditory submodalities include volume and alternation of speech, music, and noise. We also managed to establish a relationship between the frequency of using visual and auditory submodalities: as a rule, a blogger who actively works with one more often turns to the other. The most popular submodalities are those common to online video content and traditional television. However, in the field of video blogging, their concentration in a work is, on average, higher than on a television screen.CONCLUSION. Submodalities allow the blogger to attract and hold the audience’s attention to the work. The study managed to establish a correlation between the frequency of submodalities and the degree of audience interest in a video fragment: in episodes where the concentration of submodalities is higher, a surge in user interest in media content is noted.
