The emergence and involvement of new technologies based on deep information processing in the social sphere is inextricably linked with the modern educational paradigm. Artificial intelligence alters the current pedagogical reality significantly. The article addresses issues concerning the use of smart algorithms in higher education.

The article examines reading in a foreign language as an educational goal from the perspective of intercultural communication, regarding the result of the reading process as the interpretation of profound meanings and the reader's individual meaningful product; the author focuses on developing the reader's creative capacity for critical interpretation of the content in different reading situations as contrasted to pragmatic ability for surfacing the text and consuming information.

The article presents theoretical substantiation of the essence and types of projects, advantages and specifics of their application for masters’ training to pedagogical activity. The author proposes an algorithm for organizing project activities, information and methodological support for implementing professionally significant multi-level projects developed by each undergraduate meant for students of different ages and levels of intercultural communication skills studying in various educational institutions.

The article discusses the specifics of the research work organization in the field of domestic pedagogy in 20-40s of the 20th century. Two stages of the genesis of ideas about research work are distinguished. The role of teacher-training universities in the development of research programs is noted. The experience of organizing and popularizing students’ research work is described. The common features and differences of the modern and historical stages of research in the field of pedagogy are revealed.

In this article the features of personality motivational sphere of technical and humanitarian students during distance learning were considered. Differences were revealed in terms of cognition, introjected motive, motive of self-development, self-respect and amotivation; in terms of satisfaction with the need for relatedness, in terms of success as a mental state, attitude to uncertain situations, as well as tolerance to uncertainty.

The article presents the results of a research aimed at testing the hypothesis of the relationship between changes in pupil diameter when perceiving photo images of various categories and the peculiarities of empathy. The research involved 62 subjects whose pupil diameters were recorded using an eye tracker. Patterns of change in pupil diameter were revealed for three groups of subjects with different ratios of empathy structural components.

The article discusses the issues of the formation and widespread penetration of smart contracts into public relations, concepts explaining their legal nature, doctrinal views on the models of legal regulation used in foreign legal systems and in the Russian Federation. Given the variety of different approaches to the assessment of the phenomenon under study, the author focuses his attention on its characteristics as a special type of civil contract.

The article discusses some issues of the relationship between the right to use physical force, special means and firearms, along with the obligation to “minimize harm.” The lexical and legal analysis of the obligation to “minimize harm” in cases where the right to use these forceful measures arises gives reason to believe that some changes should be made to the current legislation, which are proposed by the author in the concluding part of the publication.
