Constructing Frame Structures by Means of Translation: Chinese Realia Transfer into Russian
Wang T.
Abstract

The article considers the mechanism of frame construction in the process of translation based on the first transfer of Chinese realities into Russian in the 18th century. The main attention is paid to the cognitive and creative aspect of translation that expands the boundaries of understanding. Translation correspondences in A. L. Leontiev’s book “Notice of Tea and Silk” are used as material. The novelty of the work lies in looking at lexical correspondences in translation from the point of view of frame semantics. The research methodology is based on frame theory and the concept of information stock of translation correspondences. The results show that the combination of transliteration, calquing, analogy and description forms a frame structure, providing the most complete transfer of culturally specific concepts.

Reflecting the Impact Function of Chinese Translations in the Translator’s Paratext
Guo J.
Abstract

The article deals with the ways of realizing the impact function of Chinese translations from Russian in prefaces and afterwords. By means of linguopragmatic analysis of translated paratexts the main themes and linguistic means that realise the function of influencing the reader are identified. Nine Chinese paratexts to the translations of Russian works on philosophy and literary studies were taken as research material. The results indicate that Chinese translation paratexts are characterized by a pronounced desire to influence the reader’s perception of the text, which indicates a different understanding of the purpose of translation in Chinese culture from that in Europe.

Cognitive Aspects of Zoonym Representation in the Phraseology of Germanic Languages: From Stereotypes to National-Cultural Concepts (Based on German and English Languages)
Guseva A.E., Korchagina E.P.
Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the cognitive features (models) of phraseological units with a zoonym component in Germanic phraseology (based on data from German and English), as well as to determine the process of transitioning from stereotypes to national-cultural concepts through the comparison of phraseological units and their associated cultural concepts in the examined languages. The research material includes phraseological units with a zoonym component from German (205 units) and English (207 units). The data were analyzed using cognitive and comparative analysis methods, as well as descriptive and semantic analysis techniques. The results of the study consist in the conducting a comparative analysis of the unique cultural characteristics of 205 phraseological units with a zoonymic component in the German language and 207 phraseological units in the English language. The study identifies their integral and differentiating features based on stereotypes, applying a cognitive approach to language.

Compression of Syntactic Structures of German Scientific Texts
Kasanzeva J.M.
Abstract

The aim of the research is to describe, from the standpoint of syntactic semantics, the role of word-formation and grammatical means in the creation of condensed predications of an adverbial and attributive nature depending on the volume of the grammatical minimum of the sentence and the valence of the verb. The relevance of the article is due to the need to identify the factors that determine the place of condensed propositions in the syntactic and communicative structure of the German scientific text. Based on contextual and component analysis, verbal derivatives and composites, infinitive and participial phrases are studied.

Burrows’s Delta Measure as a Tool Resolving the Hymnographic Discrepancy Issue Between Collections (based on German Catholic hymnals)
Koryshev M.V.
Abstract

The paper aim is to identify and explain the differences between text collections of identical historical and cultural timespans that are contained in both editions of the Gotteslob – a prominent German-language Catholic prayer and hynmbook representing the vibrant hymnographic tradition of the last 50 years. The total data set includes 358 texts and 41,500 word tokens. Our stylometric analysis consistently relies on the Burrows’s Delta measure. The obtained findings demonstrate that German Catholic hymnography follows a nonlinear development pattern, characterized by the retrospectively ‘reinvented tradition’ of the hymnal genre; the latter largely explains the discrepancies between the studied text collections.

Discursive Representation of the Commemorative Event (an analysis of English-language texts)
Murashova E.P.
Abstract

The article aims to reveal the peculiarities of the discursive representation of the commemorative event as a basic cognitive unit of commemoration. To achieve the aim the author uses general scientific methods (analysis, synthesis, etc.), frame analysis, frame modelling and types of analysis of language phenomena (linguostylistic, discursive analyses, etc.). The research material is 750 English-language online texts published from 2019 to 2025 by American, British and Canadian politicians. It is revealed that within a commemorative event the collective memory, as such unrepresented mentally, is a product of construction of reality in discourse. The author reveals discursive mechanisms of forming the collective memory in commemoration – mythologisation, stereotypisation and recursion.

Сonceptualization Features of Historical Memory in Documentary Film as Polycode Text
Salomakhin A.Y.
Abstract

The article examines the conceptualization processes of historical memory in a polycode text based on the serial documentary film “Les Rois de France.” The purpose of the study is to determine the interaction features of visual, audio and verbal code systems that constitute the conceptual and semantic unity of the documentary. The identification of polycode means of conceptualizing historical memory was carried out using the linguopragmatic, semiotic, contextual and discourse analysis methods. The study showed that in the documentary, conceptualization of memory is implemented through visual symbols of power, historical iconography, reconstruction and chronicles, as well as emotionally colored musical and sound effects and expressive means, allowing pragmatically effective reconstruction of the past image as an integral part of cultural heritage of France.

Memetization of Reality as a Means of its Deconflicting: a Linguistic and Cultural View on the Deconstruction of a Serial Meme
Sapunova O.V., Denissova G.V.
Abstract

The purpose of the research is to study the mechanism of creating a serial meme and classify their types, depending on the principle of their creation. The article introduces the concept of serial meme and outlines the reasons for its inventing. It also describes the structural model of a serial meme and traces the phases of its existence. The authors introduce the concept of a zero meme, which is an initial version of a meme, whose altering lead to creating a range of related memes (a meme series). Thus, a viral nature of this genre is exhibited. The authors undertake the method of meme deconstruction and conduct a qualitative content analysis to boil down four serial memes to their meta seme and extract the conceptual core of the series. The authors conclude that carnivalization of reality underlies the process of zero meme creation. However, numerous variations of a zero meme lead to the loss of its meta seme. This phenomenon can be observed in parodies of a meme, samples of meme stylisation and the amalgamation of memes.

Semantics Within the Mythopoetic Paradigm: Studying Lexical Semantics
Tsvetaeva E.N.
Abstract

The paper considers challenges arising while studying German language semantic processes determined by their relation to myth as a mode of thought and representing a corresponding set of mythologems (concepts and motives). Lexemes as well as phrasemes which articulate such lexemes comprise the data for this study, while the aim of the study is to showcase the capabilities of the mythosemantic approach to lexis description as applied to studies concerned with evolution of polysemy, syntagmatics and paradigmatics. The present study employs historical and etymological analysis as well as comparative approach in order to identify general semantic trends. Contextual analysis gives the opportunity to study the meaning of certain words at certain times throughout history meanwhile corpus analysis enables tracking of lexical change.

The Lake (der See) and the Pond (der Weiher) in High Biedermeier Poetry
Seifert E.I.
Abstract

The aim of the work is to understand the depiction of lakes and ponds by the Biedermeier masters. The study is conducted on the material of the poetry of the High Biedermeier masters A. von Droste-Hülshoff, E. Mörike and J.W. von Scheffel, who show a great interest in lakes and ponds as locus amoenus. Using the structural-descriptive method, the article analyzes the role and functions of the depiction of lakes and ponds in the High Biedermeier. In the overwhelming majority of cases, these water loci direct the genre mode of the High Biedermeier work to the idyllic. In the case of rivalry of genres, when a pond or lake appears in a High Biedermeier poem, it is freed from the influence of a sad elegy and an anxious ballad and resorts to feeding on the dominants of optimistic genres – a poetic prayer and a fragment. The scientific novelty also lies in the fact that the article is the first to conduct a review comparison of the motifs and images of lakes and ponds in Russian and German literature.

The Phenomenon of Mirroring in Edogawa Rampo’s Short Story “The Twins”
Chernova I.V., Semina I.A.
Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the distinctive features of mirroring in Edogawa Rampo’s story as a multi-layered literary phenomenon that integrates psychological, philosophical, and cultural dimensions. The study explores the semantics of the mirror within the structure, where it functions as a symbolic object connecting the plot with traditional Japanese conceptions; as an instrument of the protagonist’s identity crisis, wherein his reflection becomes a projection of the “Shadow” (C.G. Jung) and a fragmented “Self” (J. Lacan); as a metaphor for confessional discourse, where the formal death-row confession devolves into a simulacrum of repentance (J. Baudrillard). Special attention is given to Rampo’s transformation of doppelgänger archetypes through modernist aesthetics, creating a synthesis of Japanese cultural tradition and Western psychological theories. The conclusion posits that “mirroring” in the story serves not only as a plot-forming device but also as a universal mechanism for representing existential crisis.

On the Language of Petrarch’s Canzoniere in the Context of Recent Russian Translations
Yakushkina T.V.
Abstract

Recent Russian translations of Petrarch’s Cazoniere have raised the issue of his language: in spite of different strategies, their unifying feature is lexical heterogeneity, due to which Canzoniere appears as a book with different lexical layers and stylistic registers. The purpose of the article, therefore, is to characterize the linguistic features of Petrarch’s Canzoniere in their correlation with the tasks of translation. The author of the article has analyzed and summed up linguistic research studies over the recent years and highlights: the language of Canzoniere is not a living folk language, but an elevated and refined one created with the idea of volgare illustre. Thus, the linguistic strategy of a book translator, the author of the article states, should coincide with the main linguistic task of the literary monument itself, which is the vernacular language sublimation. Pursuing this objective, a translator is highly to convey the original effect of the source-language text.

Creolized Text in Fine Art: the Experience of Structural Analysis
Sevostyanov D.A.
Abstract

The purpose of the study is to analyze the creolized text as a form in which the content of a work of fine art is presented. The study uses the method of analyzing systemic inversions – relationships in the hierarchy, in which one of the lower elements becomes the main one. The analysis of such elements of the creolized text as signs, symbols, and visual images is carried out. The role of expressive motor skills (“handwriting”) of the artist in the structure of the creolized text is also considered. Special attention is paid to the relationship between concepts such as creolized text and image fable. As a result of the research, the source of systemic inversions in the creolized text of the painting has been identified.
