From Chronological Variable to Discursive Identity: Rethinking Age in Linguistics
Abstract
The aim of this article is to provide a theoretical justification for introducing the category of discursive age as a linguistic tool for analysing age-related identity. The study draws upon key concepts developed within sociolinguistics, cognitive linguistics, and linguoculturology. The methodological framework combines interpretative, discursive, and comparative-analytical approaches. The findings demonstrate that age in language is represented not only as a chronological parameter but also as a situationally reproduced communicative position. The concept of discursive age is introduced as a situationally and dynamically constructed identity, cognitively, culturally, and pragmatically motivated, shaped and represented by the speaker in the course of verbal interaction.

The Functions of Negative Constructions in the Language of Early French Literature
Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the functions of negative constructions, which are numerous in early French texts (9th – 12th centuries). The research material included a continuous sample of the texts of four early monuments of the Old French language: “Cantilena de Saint Eulalia”, “Song of Roland”, “Song of Saint Faith of Agen” and “Raoul de Cambrai” (7811 lines of poetic text). As a result of the study, we came to the conclusion that negative constructions in Old French are characterized by polyfunctionality – in addition to the descriptive / statutory function, they can perform rhetorical reinforcement, as well as express various grammatical and lexical meanings.

Tashkent as a Palimpsest: Kornei and Lidiya Chukovskaya’s Experience of Perception
Abstract
The aim of this study is to identify the specific features of the image of Tashkent as perceived by Korney and Lidia Chukovsky during the wartime period. A comparative analysis of K. I. Chukovsky’s diary entries and L. K. Chukovskaya’s poetic and memoir texts reveals both shared motifs and imagery, as well as fundamental divergences in their reception of the city. For the writer, Tashkent appears as a space of benevolence and southern idyll, whereas for his daughter it retains the characteristics of an alien land, intensifying the sense of tragedy and solitude. Within the framework of the study, a “dialogue” with the epistolary legacy of M. A. Voloshin is also traced. Taken together, these texts form a palimpsest of representations of Tashkent in Russian literature, allowing it to be interpreted as a significant element of cultural memory.

The Mythopoetics of Infernality in the Lyrics of Georg Trakl
Abstract
The article examines the figurative world of the infernal in the lyrics of Georg Trakl (1887–1914), tracing the transformation of themes, motifs, and images of the horrific and the chthonic from the early period of his work to the later one, represented by the poems from the collections “Gedichte” (1913) and “Sebastian im Traum” (1914). The purpose of this study is to identify the infernal invariants of G. Trakl's poetic mythology.Using a systemic approach, along with mythopoetic, hermeneutic, and cultural-historical methods, the study explores key infernal mythologemes in Trakl’s poetry: female chthonic figures, images of doubles, fallen angels, inverted Christian imagery, eschatological motifs, the topos of hell, and the chronotope of winter. The infernal in Trakl’s work forms an integral artistic system in which, through the prism of Expressionist aesthetics, a subjectivist, visionary poetic mythology is created.

“Sociological Selection” by Tadeusz Zieliński and Formalist Film Poetics as a Sociolinguistics Project
Abstract
The study objective is to frame Tadeusz Zieliński's concept of “sociological selection” as a sociolinguistic idea and to identify its impact on Formalist film poetics, which connected language evolution with cinematic art. By analyzing works by Zieliński, Viktor Shklovsky, and Adrian Piotrovsky using methods of historical-philosophical reconstruction, comparative literature, and film theory, the study finds that Zelinsky's concept foreshadows modern sociolinguistics in explaining how language structures are solidified by social demand. It also shows that Formalist film theory (Shklovsky, Piotrovsky) applies a similar principle, interpreting montage and rhythm as outcomes of a collective selection of artistic forms.
